About our quizzes

Some pages offer a short, optional quiz that helps us show you more relevant content (for example, games or apps that match your interests). Quizzes do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or other contact details, and your answers are used only to tailor the content shown to you and to measure, in aggregate, how useful our content is. Providing answers is voluntary.

3. Why we use personal information (purposes and legal bases)

We use personal information for the following purposes. Where the law of your location requires a legal basis (for example, the EU/UK GDPR), we rely on the basis indicated:

  • To operate and provide the Website, display content and remember your settings — legitimate interests / performance of a contract.
  • To personalize content, including using your quiz answers to recommend relevant games and apps — legitimate interests or consent, where required.
  • To show advertising on the Website (including personalized/interest-based ads) — consent, where required by law; otherwise legitimate interests.
  • To advertise our Website on other platforms, including remarketing to previous visitors and measuring the performance of our ad campaigns (e.g., on Google and Microsoft Bing) — consent, where required by law; otherwise legitimate interests.
  • Analytics: to understand how visitors use the Website and improve it — consent, where required by law; otherwise legitimate interests.
  • To respond to your messages sent through the contact form — legitimate interests / steps taken at your request.
  • Security and fraud prevention, including detecting invalid traffic, spam and bots — legitimate interests.
  • Legal compliance and protection of our rights — legal obligation / legitimate interests.

4. Cookies, tracking and interest-based advertising

We use cookies, pixels, tags and similar technologies on the Website, and we allow third parties to do so. These technologies track individual users’ activity on the Website and across other websites over time, and the information collected is shared with third parties for advertising and marketing purposes, including interest-based (targeted) advertising and remarketing.

The main third parties that collect or receive information through the Website are:

  • Google (Google Ads, Google AdSense, Google Ad Manager, Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, reCAPTCHA, Funding Choices consent tool) — for advertising, remarketing, conversion measurement, analytics, consent management and spam protection. Learn more: How Google uses information from sites that use its services Google Privacy Policy.
  • Microsoft (Microsoft Advertising Universal Event Tracking (UET) and Microsoft Clarity) — see Section 5.
  • Advertising partners that bid for and serve ads on the Website through Google’s ad platforms. These partners may set their own cookies and use the information in accordance with their own privacy policies.

Necessary cookies are required for the Website to work. Analytics and advertising cookies are used in accordance with your choices in our cookie/consent settings and applicable law. You can manage your choices at any time — see Section 8.

5. Microsoft Advertising, UET and Microsoft Clarity

We advertise through Microsoft Advertising and use the Microsoft Universal Event Tracking (UET) tag on the Website. UET allows Microsoft to collect or receive personal data from you — such as cookie identifiers, IP address, browser and device information, and the pages you visit and actions you take on the Website — so that we can measure the effectiveness of our ads (conversion tracking), build remarketing audiences and show you more relevant ads on the Microsoft Advertising network.

We also use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the Website through behavioral metrics, heatmaps and session replay. Clarity collects usage data via first- and third-party cookies and other tracking technologies. Clarity is configured to mask text you enter in form fields.

For more information about how Microsoft collects and uses your data, please see the Microsoft Privacy Statement. You can opt out of personalized ads from Microsoft at Microsoft personalized ad settings.

6. How we share personal information

We share personal information with the following categories of recipients:

  • Advertising networks and ad-tech partners (e.g., Google, Microsoft and advertisers buying through their platforms) — for interest-based advertising, remarketing and ad measurement.
  • Analytics providers (e.g., Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity) — to measure and improve the Website.
  • Service providers that host, maintain, secure and support the Website (hosting, content delivery, email, spam protection), who process data on our behalf under contract.
  • Authorities, courts or other parties when required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety and security.
  • A successor in the event of a merger, acquisition or sale of all or part of our business.

We do not sell your contact information (such as your name or email address) for money. However, our disclosure of online identifiers and browsing activity to advertising partners for interest-based (cross-context behavioral) advertising may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, or “targeted advertising”, under some U.S. state privacy laws. You have the right to opt out of this — see Section 8.

7. How long we keep personal information

  • Contact form messages and comments: up to 24 months after our last communication, unless a longer period is required by law.
  • Quiz answers: stored in your browser for the duration of the session or up to 30 days; aggregated, non-identifiable statistics may be kept longer.
  • Analytics and advertising data: up to 12 months, or as defined by the respective partner’s retention settings.
  • Cookies: from the end of your browser session up to 13 months, depending on the cookie.
  • Privacy request records: at least 24 months, as required by law.

When personal information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

8. Your choices and privacy rights

8.1 Consent and cookie choices

Where consent is required by law (for example, for visitors from the EEA, the UK or Switzerland), we ask for your consent through our consent banner before setting non-essential cookies. You can give or withdraw your consent at any time by clicking the “Privacy and cookie settings” link in the footer of every page. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing carried out before withdrawal. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some features may not work properly without them.

8.2 Opting out of interest-based advertising

Opting out does not mean you will stop seeing ads; the ads you see may simply be less relevant to you.

8.3 Rights of U.S. residents

Depending on your state of residence (including California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon and other states with consumer privacy laws), you may have the right to:

  • Know / access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties we disclose it to;
  • Delete personal information we have collected from you;
  • Correct inaccurate personal information;
  • Data portability — receive a copy of your personal information in a portable format;
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, targeted advertising and profiling (see Section 8.2);
  • Non-discrimination — we will not deny you service, charge you a different price or provide a different quality of service because you exercised your rights;
  • Appeal our decision on your request by replying to our response with the subject “Appeal”. If your appeal is denied, you may contact your state Attorney General.

California “Shine the Light”: California residents may request information about disclosures of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes by contacting us as described below.

8.4 Rights of EEA, UK and Swiss residents

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8.5 How to submit a request

To exercise any of these rights, contact us by:

We will confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 days (this period may be extended by an additional 45 days where permitted by law; we will let you know). We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request to access, delete or correct information. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf; we may ask the agent for proof of authorization.

9. International data transfers

We and our service providers (including Google and Microsoft) may process personal information in the United States and other countries that may have different data protection laws than your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework (where the recipient is certified), or other lawful transfer mechanisms.

10. Security

The Website is served over HTTPS (TLS encryption), and we use reasonable administrative, technical and organizational measures to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Children’s privacy

The Website is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. We do not knowingly sell or share personal information of consumers under 16, and we do not create audiences, remarketing lists or targeting profiles of individuals under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Links to third-party websites

The Website contains links to third-party websites, app stores and services that we do not operate. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Please review the privacy policies of every website you visit.

13. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it was last revised. If we make material changes, we will notify you by placing a prominent notice on the Website.
