Messenger is a multifaceted communication tool for mobile phones, tablets, and computers, developed by Facebook and released in August 2011. This free application allows users to exchange texts, photos, videos, and voice notes, either one-on-one or within group settings. It supports video calls and VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) conversations. Compatible across iOS, Android, Windows Phone devices as well as Mac and Windows PCs, Messenger boasted over 600 million active users per month by January 2015.
