The latest update from Frogwares reveals an exciting service for fans, as the remastered edition of their popular game is set to be released as a complimentary upgrade for everyone who owns the initial version. This news follows recent discussions about their upcoming survival horror sequel, which has already generated considerable buzz.
A while back, details were shared regarding the sequel, a continuation of the survival horror theme crafted by the Ukrainian developers. At that time, plans were disclosed about launching a funding drive to back the project, complete with several additional targets in the event that the initial funding goal of €100,000 was exceeded. The campaign has now not only met but far surpassed expectations.
The funding success, now over 400% of the original target, has paved the way for several extra enhancements. Foremost among these is a complete Reimagined edition of the original game built with Unreal Engine 5, replacing the previous Unreal Engine 4 foundation. This revamped edition boasts a number of improvements that elevate the original experience while ensuring that current owners can upgrade without any extra cost.
The remastered version, scheduled for launch on multiple Platforms such as PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S—will feature:
- Next-generation lighting techniques powered by Unreal Engine 5
- Enhanced visuals with additional detail in environments and objects
- 4K textures paired with more refined reflections
- An entirely new Photo Mode for creative captures
- Support for DLSS, FSR, and TSR upscaling methodologies
Furthermore, this announcement comes alongside updates on the sequel’s funding drive, which is nearing its conclusion. A few remaining stretch goals include plans to incorporate a new creature into the game, "further enriching the nuanced tapestry of an already richly layered foundation" gaming experience.
